Cruise Ship Excursions

Discover Havelock Green Lipped Mussels -Pelorus Bridge- & Hobbit Location Tour
Departs from Picton I Site
Our Shuttle Van allows up to 10 Passengers, is clean, comfortable, spacious, with air con.
We travel from Picton, passing Vineyards and Wineries to the picturesque small harbour town of Havelock, the green lipped mussel capital of the world.
Here we will stop for 30 minutes to grab a bite to eat from of the local cafe or bakery or maybe taste some fresh green lipped mussels.
You can also explore the town, learn about its history or take a stroll through the Marina.
We then travel up past Canvastown, a settlement that acquired its name from the tents that sprung up during the 1864 gold rush, you can still pan for small amounts of gold that remain in the river.
We then arrive at the Pelorus Bridge which has a cafe & walking tracks of various sizes,
details of the walks can be found here
The Pelorus Bridge is also now famous for the filming location for scenes from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. It was here the dwarves were filmed floating in barrels down the river - an experience that Stephen Hunter, who played dwarf Bombur, called 'his favourite day on set'.
We then travel back to Picton via Havelock, along the scenic Queen Charlotte Drive, a 40-kilometre stretch of road fringed with native forest, winding past numerous sleepy bays. This offers one of the most scenic drives you're likely to encounter while in New Zealand .
